U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-LA) makes a facial expression while making a statement, with his wife Wendy, at a news conference explaining his former involvement with prostitutes in Metairie, Louisiana July 16, 2007. Vitter, who admitted to Pro-Life, with "conditions". Louisiana goes to the polls one week from today to decide who will be their next governor, and the shoes are beginning to drop for Republican Senator David Vitter.

Former sex worker Wendy Ellis, last heard from in 2007 in an interview detailing her three-year relationship with "Diaper Dave" in Larry Flynt's magazine Hustler, is back, now with more scandalous details on the hypocritical Republican moralist's tryst with her during the early years of his Congressional career.

Apparently Ellis is now terminally ill with lupus, and free of an exclusivity contract with Flynt's magazine, wants to set the story straight, and is doing so in a series of videotaped interviews that New Orleans investigative journalist Jason Brad Berry is posting to Vimeo, and on his blog.

The most surprising of her claims is that David Vitter not only got her pregnant during his three year affair, but instructed her to abort the child when he discovered it.

• Ellis says in the video that she was four months pregnant when she told Vitter about her pregnancy. His first reaction was denial of paternity, followed quickly by telling her to get an abortion. She refused to abort the child and instead gave it up for adoption. Berry says he has and will continue to protect the identity and whereabouts of the child.

• Ellis says Vitter broke off their relationship when she was six months pregnant, but three years later started calling her and sending her flowers. By then she had moved on, she says, but he continued reaching out to her until his “serious sin” went public in 2007. Their sexual and romantic relationship never rekindled after the pregnancy, she said.

When Ellis first came forward with this story, she was administered a polygraph exam (which Vitter refused to take) and the polygraph expert confirmed to the Times-Picayune that she indeed passed an exam, and her story appears legit.

This is not the sort of diary that I normally post, but I find David Vitter to be the worst type of corrupt politician, building a successful quarter-century-long career in politics on lies and venality. Not only is it important that Wendy be able to tell her story, it's high time for Vitter's career to come to an end, and recent polling suggests that just might happen come November.
